Sarah Miyazawa LaFleur is a businesswoman and fashion designer of Japanese and American descent. She is known for being the founder and chief executive officer of MM.LaFleur.
LaFleur was born in Paris, France. Her father is Christopher J. LaFleur, who served as the United States Ambassador to Malaysia. Her mother is Keiko Miyazawa, the daughter of Kiichi Miyazawa, who was Prime Minister of Japan from 1991 to 1993. She has a younger sister named Emma Miyazawa. On December 7, 2002, she participated in the Bal des débutantes, where she wore designs by Hanae Mori.
She graduated from Harvard University in 2006. After completing her education, LaFleur worked as a management counselor for Bain & Company and TechnoServe in New York City. Her work included studying business opportunities in agriculture in South Africa. Subsequently, she was employed by Starwood Capital Group, a private equity firm, in both New York and Paris.
In April 2011, LaFleur left her career in financial counseling to establish MM.LaFleur. The company was named after her mother. She co-founded the firm with Miyako Nakamura and Narie Foster.
In February 2020, LaFleur announced that her company would lend free clothing to women running for office. She is also a signatory of a letter directed at Donald Trump and the United States Congress, advocating for the continuation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program throughout the United States.
