William FitzMaurice, 2nd Earl Of Kerry

William FitzMaurice, 2nd Earl of Kerry PC (Ire), was born in 1694 and died on 4 April 1747. He was a member of the British peerage and an officer in the British Army. FitzMaurice was the eldest son of Thomas Fitzmaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry, and Anne Petty.

In 1738, FitzMaurice contracted marriage with Lady Gertrude Lambart, the daughter of Richard Lambart, 4th Earl of Cavan. The couple had at least two children: a son, Francis Thomas-Fitzmaurice, who later became the 3rd Earl of Kerry (1740–1818), and a daughter, Anna Maria, who married Maurice FitzGerald, the 16th Knight of Kerry.

Regarding his military career, William FitzMaurice was commissioned as a captain in the 2nd Regiment of Foot Guards on 23 June 1716. At that time, he held the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the Army. However, he resigned from his military position in January 1717/8.

FitzMaurice also held several governmental and administrative positions. He served as Governor of Ross Castle, a historic fortress located in Ireland. He was appointed to the Privy Council of Ireland, a formal body of advisors to the sovereign in Ireland. Additionally, he held the position of Custos Rotulorum of Kerry from 1746 until his death in 1747, a role responsible for the custody of the county's records and often associated with magistrates.

William FitzMaurice died in 1747 in Lixnaw, a town in County Kerry, Ireland. His wife, Lady Gertrude Lambart, survived him and died in 1775. She was buried at St James's Church in Piccadilly on 17 November of that year.
