Algernon Edward Sartoris

Algernon Edward Urban Sartoris was born on March 17, 1877, in Washington, D.C. His mother was Nellie Grant, the daughter of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. Sartoris's paternal family name was Sartoris; his father's name was Algernon Charles Frederick Sartoris.

Sartoris pursued a career in the diplomatic service, representing the United States in various capacities. He resigned from the military in 1903, though specific details about his military service are not provided. On April 20, 1904, he married Cécile Noufflard in Paris, France.
