Introduction
Princess G’an, a member of the Ming Dynasty imperial family, was the eldest daughter of Emperor Jingtai. Her mother was the deposed consort Wang. She was born on the 27th day of the first lunar month in the fourteenth year of Zhengtong (1449). During the early years of Emperor Jingtai’s reign, she was granted the title of Princess G’an. In the eighth year of Jingtai (1457), Emperor Yingzong restored the throne, ending Jingtai’s rule, and Princess G’an’s title was changed from Princess to Princess of G’an County. In the fifth year of Chenghua (1469), she married Wang Xian at the age of twenty, still enjoying the ceremonies of a princess. She had a son, Wang Dao, who later joined the official ranks as an officer in the Jinyiwei. She passed away on February 11th, in the fourth year of Hongzhi (1491), at the age of forty-two, and was buried with the honors accorded to a princess.
