Catherine Gaines

Catherine Gaines (1693–1760) was the daughter of John Madison, an American sheriff, planter, politician, and major landowner. She is part of a family lineage that includes Ambrose Madison, her brother, who was also an American planter and politician, and James Madison, her nephew, who served as President of the United States from 1809 to 1817. Her family members were prominent in American political and agricultural circles during their time.
