Introduction

Bolgoruo, also known as Bo Wengguono, was a member of the Qing imperial clan; his birth and death years are unspecified. He was a grandson of Qing Taizong Huang Taiji; his father was Suosai, who was the son of Chengze Yuhou.

In 1655 (the eleventh year of the Shunzhi reign, December), Suosai died. His elder brother, Bogeduo, inherited the noble title associated with the Bolgoro line and was renamed Prince Zhuang. Subsequently, Bolgoro was granted a noble title; in 1665 (the fourth year of the Kangxi reign), the court enfeoffed him as Prince Hui of the first rank. Bolgoro participated in court affairs as a prince and held positions in political consultations.

In December of the eleventh year of Kangxi (1672), Bolgoro, along with Prince Fuhquan of the Yuhuo, Prince Bogeduo of the Zhuang princely peerage, and Prince Weng of Wengjun, jointly resigned from their political advisory roles, requesting to step down from their duties. This marked the end of their tenure and participation in the political advisory body.

In 1684 (the twenty-third year of Kangxi), Bolgoro was deprived of his title for "improper participation in sacrificial offerings." This event resulted in the termination of his noble status and privileges, contrasting with his prior political and noble activities.

In 1723 (the first year of the Yongzheng reign), Prince Bogeduo died. Since the Zhuang prince title had no heirs, the Ministry of Rites proposed that it be inherited by the son of Emperor Shunzhi, and the Qing court arranged the succession accordingly. The court designated Yulu, the sixteenth son of Emperor Shengzu (Emperor Shunzhi), as Bolgordo’s successor, inheriting the Zhuang prince title; additionally, Bolgoro’s grandson, Qiulin, was granted the title of Beile. Qiulin was the eldest son of Bolgoro’s fifth son, Fucang, and a direct descendant of the main line of the Bogeduo family. The retainers belonging to the Hui Junwang peerage were assigned to Qiulin’s command, integrating them into a key part of the new Beile’s estate and authority structure.

All these events are based on records from the Draft History of Qing. The main chronological nodes include his paternal line’s death in 1655, his enfeoffment as Hui junwang in 1665, participation and resignation from the political advisory in 1672, deprivation of his title in 1684, and succession and re-enfeoffment in 1723. The biography of Bolgoro primarily emphasizes his lineage, noble inheritance, and participation in court politics, with no records or disclosures regarding his education, place of residence, or other details.
