Introduction
Sachi Suzuki (March 31, 1919 – March 22, 2015) was a Japanese politician and the wife of Zenko Suzuki. She was born in Hokkaido.
Career
She was born as the eldest daughter of Shigeru Hagiwara, the first principal of the Hakodate Fisheries School operated by the Hokkaido prefectural government (now Hokkaido Hakodate Fisheries High School). After completing her studies, she graduated from the "Family Dormitory" and was working as an assistant there when, through the introduction of her husband's mentor, Ichi Jiro Iya, she married Zenko Suzuki on November 2, 1939, at Nogi Shrine.
Subsequently, in 1947 (Showa 22), her husband Zenko Suzuki was elected to the House of Representatives, making her a member of parliament’s wife. From July 17, 1980, to November 27, 1982, during her husband's tenure as Prime Minister, she served as First Lady.
She passed away due to natural causes on March 22, 2015, at the age of 95. The funeral was conducted with her eldest son, Shunichi Suzuki, serving as the chief mourner.
