Introduction

Wen Zhaoyu, born in 1959, is a Taiwanese actor and former child star. From a young age, he showed an interest in imitating adult actions. Before he was a year and a half old, his mother, Cheng Lüping, enrolled him in the "Healthy Baby Competition,” where he won second place and made appearances on television programs.

In 1982, Wen Zhaoyu gained widespread attention for his role in the TV drama "Goodbye A Lang," directed by Lin Fudi. He played the child star role of "Xiao Binbin." Due to his excellent performance, he was awarded the Best Child Actor of the year at the Taiwan television industry’s Golden Bell Awards. He later participated in the sequel, "See You Again, A Lang." To audition for the role, Wen Zhaoyu’s mother took him to a televised open casting for child actors. Although the director was initially skeptical of his young age, during the audition, he demonstrated boldness and friendliness, successfully earning the director’s favor. The character Xiao Binbin was well-loved by audiences, and the series' broadcast boosted his fame, increasing his role from the planned five episodes to twenty-five.

Throughout his acting career, Wen Zhaoyu set high viewership records with his performance in the TV series "Stars Know My Heart," earning him the reputation of a "Super Child Star" in Southeast Asia. Producer Wang Yingxiang signed an eight-film contract with him, including the comedy "Born as a Pair," which starred the late comedian Xu Bu Liao. The film achieved a box office record of $40 million and opened the door to the Hong Kong film industry. In Hong Kong, he appeared in numerous films, including "Family Happiness," "Congratulations on Your Prosperity," "Big and Small Miscreants," "Cute in the Rain," "The Hilarious Experts," "The Magician and the Little Orphan," "Two Tigers," "My Son Binbin," and "Magic Wheel."

As he reached adulthood, Wen Zhaoyu’s career encountered setbacks. For a period, his restaurant business failed, and his family life also went through changes. His marriage life experienced multiple transitions; he divorced Huang Meiling in 2007 and married his second wife, Chen Yijun, on December 13, 2011. In July 2016, they divorced due to differences in educational views and family tensions. He has three sons: his eldest, Wen Xuanye (Xiao Xiao Bin), his second, Wen Xuanxi (Mini Bin), and his third, Wen Xuanxi (Meng Meng Bin).

Wen Zhaoyu’s filmography also includes several movies such as "Old Dad Isn’t Afraid of More" (1991), "Magic Jade" (1986), "Congratulations on Your Prosperity" (1985), "Two Tigers" (1985), "Big and Small Miscreants" (1984), and "Family Happiness" (1984). His achievements in the industry earned him recognition and awards early in his career, including the 1982 Golden Bell Award.
