Bobby Koch

Robert P. Koch was born on January 13, 1960. He is the son of George William Koch, who served as president of the Grocery Manufacturers Association.

Koch’s professional career began in politics, where he worked for Tony Coelho, participating in Coelho's campaign to become House Majority Whip. He subsequently served as staff director for House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt.

In 2003, Koch became the president and chief executive officer of the Wine Institute, an organization representing wineries and related businesses in California. As of his tenure, he acts as the organization's chief lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, California. Under his leadership, the organization’s membership increased by approximately 70%, reaching over 1,000 wineries and affiliated businesses, primarily family-owned enterprises based in California.

Koch has financial interests beyond his role at the Wine Institute, including an equity stake in the Central European Distribution Corporation, a company involved in manufacturing and distributing vodka in Poland.

On a personal level, Robert P. Koch married Dorothy Bush in 1992 during a private ceremony at Camp David. Dorothy Bush is a daughter of George H. W. Bush. The marriage is notable for being the only wedding held at Camp David. The couple has two children together. Dorothy Bush also has two children from her previous marriage.

Koch is involved in charitable activities, particularly focusing on raising funds for research and cures related to Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
