Ting Ro-an

Ding Rouan, born in Taipei, Taiwan, is a public figure who attended the private Wende Girls’ Senior High School, majoring in fashion design. She began her entertainment career in 1987, first appearing in an advertisement. That same year she joined the popular girl group "Red Lip Tribe" as a first-generation member and went on to release two albums with the group.

In her acting career Ding Rouan appeared in several TV dramas, including Zuohuo Xiangqian Zou, Taose Weiji and Mirror. She has also hosted a number of television shows such as Ye Ye Ye Kuang, Private Cinema, Movie Train Station and Super Dog Competition. In addition, she has radio experience, having hosted programs on Voice of Taipei and Good Family Radio.

Her recorded works mainly include the Red Lip Tribe albums Red Lip Manifesto (1987, Kedeng Records) and Red Lip Tribe’s Romantic Ideas (1988, Feiying Records). Her vocal work had a noticeable impact on popular culture at the time.

In her family background, her father is veteran actor Yang Guang. In recent years their relationship has been cordial and they even traveled to Japan together; however, after certain incidents his contact information became hard to obtain.

Her private life has attracted public attention, especially her relationship with well-known Taiwanese host Hu Gua. The two had known each other for more than 13 years and were the subject of repeated media reports. In 2006 both were found to have used marijuana; tests showed Hu Gua’s use occurred between September and November of the previous year, while Ding Rouan’s use was from November of that year through January of the following year.

Ding Rouan has presented herself as compliant and virtuous, stressing her trust in Hu Gua and gradually living a lower-profile life—shifting from former celebrity to a steady professional. She has said that although marriage is not yet decided, she hopes to marry Hu Gua in the future. She has also stated that outside pressure and skepticism have only strengthened their relationship.

Currently Ding Rouan works as International Advertising and Publicity Director at the Huangjin Xiandan company, keeping a nine-to-five schedule. She emphasizes improving her professional abilities and has sought business success through opportunities to collaborate with Hu Gua. She has expressed a desire to have children in the future and says she fully supports her relationship with Hu Gua.
