In September 2011, she took part in Hunan TV’s “Miss Star Election Fashion Baby Season” and won the Fashion Styling Award. The event featured several Chinese designers who custom-made gowns for the contestants; in the onstage face-off, Zhang Xinyue lost to Jiang Song.
