James Butler

James Butler is a descendant of Elizabeth Olmstead, who was born in Wethersfield on October 12, 1681. Elizabeth Olmstead was the mother of Mary Butler, born around 1670 and deceased on May 17, 1744 in Waterbury. Mary Butler was the mother of Ebenezer Hopkins Jr., born June 24, 1699 in Hartford, Connecticut, and later associated with Shaftsbury around 1784. Ebenezer Hopkins Jr. was the father of Tabitha Hopkins, born October 16, 1745, in Harwinton, Connecticut. Tabitha Hopkins was the mother of Phoebe Millard, through whom Millard Fillmore, the President of the United States from 1850 to 1853, traces his maternal lineage.
