Introduction
Consort Rong Zhao was a female member of the ancient Chinese Ming Dynasty imperial family, and the favored consort of Emperor Shizong of Ming. Her birth and death dates are unknown. The Zhao family was first bestowed the title of Rongpin (Honored Consort). She was born on April 16, 1540, and was the mother of Zhu Zaiwei, Prince of Jun, the eighth son of the emperor. There are no records about her posthumous name. Her title was Rongpin (Honored Consort). The Ming History records her as Zhao Rongfei (Consort Rong), but the Ming Veritable Records do not mention her. Other sources such as Ming Books refer to her as Zhao Rongpin (Honored Consort Zhao). It is suspected that Zhao Rongfei may be the same person as Zhao Yifei (the specific identification awaits further verification).
