Introduction
Zhu Xizhen, whose date of birth is unknown, was a private individual. She and her husband Zeng Zhiwei had two sons, Zeng Guoxiang and Zeng Guoyou. Zhu Xizhen emigrated to Canada with her family at an early age and settled in Vancouver. Within the family, Zeng Zhiwei was one of the main managers of her assets, but Zhu Xizhen herself kept a low profile and did not take part in public affairs. While Zeng Zhiwei is relatively well known in the entertainment industry, Zhu Xizhen rarely appeared in public.
According to records, before 2020 Zhu Xizhen underwent medical examinations in Canada due to poor health. In January 2020, she returned from Canada to Hong Kong for treatment, accompanied by her son Zeng Guoxiang and daughter-in-law. At that time, Zeng Guoxiang and Zeng Zhiwei were seen at the hospital escorting her on discharge. In the following months, Zeng Guoxiang was photographed entering and leaving the hospital multiple times, but the specifics of his mother’s condition were not disclosed.
On August 5, 2020, Zeng Guoxiang announced via the media that Zhu Xizhen had passed away on August 3, 2020 at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, describing her death as “peaceful.” After her passing, Zeng Zhiwei held a wake for her on August 9 and a cremation and farewell ceremony at Po Lin Monastery on August 10. Attendees included Zeng Guoxiang, Zeng Guoyou and daughter-in-law Wang Minyi. Reportedly, the funeral arrangements followed Zhu Xizhen’s wishes, and a sea burial was planned for a later date.
During her life, Zhu Xizhen was active in charitable work, participating in volunteer activities and visiting temples, showing an interest in religion and philanthropy. Her death was regarded as a major event by her family; Zeng Guoxiang said that during his mother’s illness he had accompanied her in the hospital to watch a live-streamed award ceremony, expressing gratitude and emotion. That award was considered the best gift for her.
In short, Zhu Xizhen was a woman who lived largely out of the public eye, with few public exposures; she focused on her family, and most details of her life and actions are known through family descriptions.
