Introduction
Taketada Tsunehisa (born October 11, 1940) belongs to Japan's former imperial family and is the third head of the Takeda-no-miya residence. During his time as a member of the Imperial Family, his rank was Prince (Prince Tsunehisa), and he is a second cousin once removed of Emperor Akihito (the retired Emperor).
Biography
Born on October 11, 1940 (Showa 15), at the Takeda-no-miya residence located at 17 Takanawa Minami-cho, Shiba Ward, Tokyo City, Tokyo Prefecture, as the first prince son of Takeda-no-miya Tsunetada. His mother was Princess Mitsuko, the consort of Prince Tsunetada. He was given the name Tsunehisa on the same day of his birth. Because his birth coincided with the day of the Grand Naval Review celebrating the 2600th year of the Imperial era, naval officials at the time had expectations that he might serve in the navy in the future.
On October 14, 1947 (Showa 22), following the enforcement of the new Constitution of Japan, he was disauthorized from Imperial status along with his father and family. After graduating from Keio University’s Faculty of Economics, he joined Mitsubishi Corporation. Subsequently, he studied at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning an MBA.
In his personal life, he married Kyoko Nezu, the third daughter of Kaichiro Nezu, head of the Nezu Group and former president of Tobu Railway.
Family and Relatives
His father was the former Takeda-no-miya Tsunetada (Tsunetada), and his mother was Mitsuko, the daughter of Duke Sanjo Kimotaka (Tsutaka) and consort of Tsunetada. His siblings include Tsunehisa, Motoko, Noriko, Tsuneyoshi, and Nagahisa. His wife, Kyoko, is the third daughter of Kaichiro Nezu, founder of Tobu Railway, and is a granddaughter of the first Kaichiro Nezu.
His children include his eldest daughter Hiroko Takeda (born circa 1969 or 1970) and his eldest son Tsunekazu Takeda (born February 20, 1974). Among his relatives is Shigeo Okada, the founder of Mitsukoshi Department Store.
Career and Other Activities
Taketada Tsunehisa inherited the Takeda family headship after his father's death on May 11, 1992. He later became involved in golf activities, serving as chairman of the Tokyo Golf Club in 2009, and in 2012, he was elected vice-president of the Japan Golf Association, a public interest incorporated foundation. In 2015, he became the president of the Japan Golf Association.
His hobbies include golf, and he is a member of Karuizawa Golf Club and Tokogaya Country Club. He started playing golf inspired by an experience during his student days when he played with his father at Karuizawa Golf Club.
