Song Zhonghu and his wife Cao Lixuan have been married since 1982, and they have one son, Song Yuanxiao, and four daughters. Their son, Song Yuanxiao, studies at the University of California, Davis, while their youngest daughter is attending Stanford University, excelling academically and serving as a leader in school and church. Her siblings also attended universities in California, but some of them relaxed their efforts towards their studies.
There have long been rumors among the public claiming that Kong Xiangxi and Song Ziyun misappropriated public funds. In 1950, the U.S. government stated that it had information indicating both individuals transferred public funds to the United States and accused them of doing so. In response, Song Zhonghu and his wife thoroughly examined Song Ziyun’s archives to find evidence, discovering that Song Ziyun had attempted to disclose information about his assets in the U.S., but was unsuccessful. They strongly oppose the U.S. government and media's accusations that their family “stole the nation,” believing that these claims are false and driven by lies.
