Introduction
Shōzaburō Jimi (自見 庄三郎, Jimi Shōzaburō) was born on November 5, 1945. He is a former Japanese politician affiliated with the now-defunct People's New Party and served as a member of the House of Councillors in Japan's national legislature, the Diet.
Jimi's educational background includes graduation from the Department of Medicine at Kyushu University in 1977. He is also a registered medical practitioner.
In his political career, Jimi was elected to the House of Councillors in 2007. Prior to this, he served more than 20 years in the House of Representatives of Japan, representing the 4th and 10th districts of Fukuoka.
During his time in office, Jimi held the position of Minister of State for Financial Services and Postal Reform from 2010 to 2012.
In recognition of his service, Jimi was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun in 2016.
