Introduction

Prince Dao Ping of Guangchang, Zhu Jihuo, was the first princely vassal of Jin during the Ming Dynasty. He was born on August 12, 1394, and died on November 8, 1427, at the age of thirty-four. He reigned for twenty-six years. Zhu Jihuo was the eldest legitimate son of Ming's Jinggong Prince Zhu Gai, and his mother was Lady Liu. He was born in the 27th year of Hongwu (1394) and was granted the title of Prince of Guangchang in the 35th year of Hongwu (1402). In September of the 4th year of Yongle (1406), he went to Nanjing to pay respects to Emperor Chengzu and held the crown prince's ceremony there. He passed away on November 8, 1427, with the posthumous title Prince Dao Ping. His eldest surviving son, Zhu Mejian, succeeded the princely title. His wife was Lady Yang, daughter of Yang Rong, a Hundred Household in Taoyuan Left Guard; she was titled Princess of Guangchang in 1414. His concubine was Lady Liu, who bore Zhu Mejian and the Lady of Tunliu County. Zhu Jihuo's eldest daughter from a concubine was the Lady of Tunliu County, who married Yi Bin Li Kai. He was buried in Longquan Mountain, Yangqu County, Taiyuan Prefecture, Shanxi Province, on June 10, 1428, during the third year of the Xuande reign. His tomb was excavated and examined in 1957.
