Introduction
Taose (Manchu: ᡨ᠋ᠣᠣᠰᡝ, transliteration: Toose; 1639–1695), the tenth son of Qing Emperor Taizong. Born on the eighth day of the second lunar month in the 4th year of Chongde (1639), his mother was the concubine Keikele. Initially awarded the title of Third Rank General of the Kingdom, he was promoted to Duke of Assistance in the eighth year of Kangxi (1669). Taose died of illness on the ninth day of the second lunar month in the 34th year of Kangxi (1695), at the age of 57.
In terms of family, Taose had multiple wives and concubines. His principal wife was of Nala clan, daughter of the light escort officer Borhertu; his second wife was also of Nala clan, daughter of the Second Class Guards Bahata; his third wife was of Hel clan, daughter of the First Class Light Escort Tu Lai; and a concubine was of the Wang clan, daughter of a noble Wang.
Regarding his children, Taose had four sons and other descendants recorded. His eldest son, Rongji, held the title of Gerek Kingdom General of the Imperial Guard, born at the hour of zi (11 pm–1 am) on the sixth day of the eleventh month in the eighth year of Kangxi (October 1669). His principal wife was of Yergen Gioro clan; records in historical sources document their relationship. Rongji died at the hour of wu (11 am–1 pm) on the first day of the seventh month in the 48th year of Kangxi (July 1, 1710), at age 40. His fifth son, Yude, was appointed Feng’en General, born on the twenty-second day of the tenth month in the eleventh year of Kangxi (October 22, 1672), to the Wang clan, daughter of Wang Zigu. He died on the sixteenth day of the second month in the 10th year of Qianlong (February 16, 1745), at age 73. His seventh son, Moting, was born on the sixteenth day of the tenth month in the seventeenth year of Kangxi (October 16, 1688), to Hel clan; he died at the hour of zi (11 pm–1 am) on the fifteenth day of the second month in the 60th year of Kangxi (February 15, 1722), at age 43. His ninth son, Wu Qi Tu, was born on the third day of the ninth month in the twenty-third year of Kangxi (September 3, 1684), to Hel clan; he was executed for crimes on the twenty-first day of the twelfth month in the 37th year of Kangxi (December 21, 1698), at only 14 years old.
