Introduction
Li Lianjie, born April 26, 1963, is a well-known Chinese actor, martial artist, and active participant in charitable work. Li grew up in Beijing and received early martial arts training, which established his reputation in China’s martial arts community. He began formal martial arts training in 1974 and in 1982 earned the title of national first-class Wushu athlete.
In his acting career, Li won international fame through several martial arts films, including Shaolin Temple and Huang Feihong. He entered the film industry gradually during the 1980s and became one of China’s most influential martial arts stars. In 1982, the film Shaolin Temple, in which he starred, was a major success — not only achieving strong box office results in China, but also promoting the international development of Chinese kung fu films.
In addition to his acting career, Li has actively participated in charitable work. In 2006 he established his own charitable foundation, focusing on children’s education, poverty relief, and disaster relief. In recent years his philanthropic activities have expanded into a broader range of public welfare areas.
Li’s family members include his wife Li Zhi, a Hong Kong actress and television host. They have a daughter, Jane Li. On July 11, 2016, Jane Li shared personal experiences in a charity speech, recalling being swept away by waves during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and her father Li’s rescue efforts during the crisis. Jane Li was 16 at the time; dressed in simple white, she spoke clearly and confidently, and her speech demonstrated a certain public speaking ability.
Additionally, two years earlier Jane Li and friends co-founded the ForKidsClub initiative, aimed at collecting used electronic waste and recycling some materials to support environmental protection and resource reuse. Her action reflects the family’s continued attention to and participation in public welfare.
Li Lianjie continues to focus on social welfare and environmental protection in public life; his personal and family experiences also in part reflect his commitment to social responsibility.
