Wang Qian

In 1938, she participated in the Boy Scouts, and later joined the New Fourth Army as a medic. After the Wannan Incident, she served as a nurse in the military's health department. In March 1941, she married Liu Shaoqi in Yancheng. In 1942, she accompanied her husband from Funing via Danjia Port to Yan'an. In 1943, she studied at the Central Party School and was later appointed as a secretary to the Central Secretariat. She divorced in 1946; her tragic marriage was exploited by Jiang Qing to discredit Liu Shaoqi, resulting in harm to their children. Liu Shaoqi deeply felt hurt by his ex-wife Wang Qian. Their daughter rebelled during the Cultural Revolution, and the family suffered long-lasting shadows, becoming part of a tragic era.
