The Trump family is an American family known for their involvement in business, real estate, entertainment, and politics. The family's origins trace back to German descent, with their ancestry dating to the early 17th century in what is now the Palatinate region of Germany. The family name, originally Drumpf, is documented in Kallstadt from the 18th century. Several descendants of Johannes Trump, born in 1789, were winegrowers in Kallstadt. Friedrich Trump, born in 1869, was the grandson of Johannes and the grandfather of Donald Trump.

Fred Trump (1905–1999), the father of Donald Trump, was a prominent real estate developer in New York City. He established the company E. Trump & Son in 1927 with his mother Elizabeth, which managed various residential properties in Queens, barracks, and apartments near shipyards. His business faced investigations for profiteering in the 1950s and 1960s. Donald Trump took over the family business in 1971, rebranding it as the Trump Organization around 1973. During this period, Donald Trump received loans from his father exceeding $14 million, according to his own claims.

Mary Anne MacLeod Trump (1912–2000), born in Tong, Scotland, married Fred Trump in 1936. She emigrated to the United States at age 17 with $50 and became a U.S. citizen in 1942.

Donald Trump (born June 14, 1946) became a businessman, television personality, and politician. He was elected the 45th president of the United States, serving as the 47th president from 2017 to 2021. He is known as a member of the First Family of the United States, with his family members also involved in his presidency.

The immediate family of Donald Trump includes his three wives and their children. Ivana Trump (née Zelníčková, 1949–2022), his first wife, was a Czech-born fashion model and businesswoman. She was a senior executive of the Trump Organization for seven years, overseeing interior design projects, including Trump Tower. Marla Maples (born October 27, 1963) was Donald Trump’s second wife. She is an actress, television personality, model, singer, and presenter. They married in December 1993 and divorced in 1999. They have one daughter, Tiffany Trump.

Melania Trump (née Knauss, born April 26, 1970) is Donald Trump’s third wife. She was a model with a career spanning multiple years and became the second foreign-born first lady of the United States upon her husband's presidency. She was born in Novo Mesto, then part of Yugoslavia (now Slovenia). Melania Trump became a U.S. citizen on July 28, 2006. They married in 2005, and Melania moved into the White House in June 2017 with their son Barron Trump.

Donald Trump has five children from three marriages. From his first marriage with Ivana Trump, he has Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump. Tiffany Trump is his only child with Marla Maples. Barron Trump, the youngest, was born to Melania Trump and is currently attending Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.

His grandchildren include eleven individuals: five children of Donald Jr. and Vanessa Trump; three children of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner; two children of Eric Trump and Lara Trump; and one child of Tiffany Trump and Michael Boulos.

The family’s German heritage was historically concealed by Fred Trump, who claimed Swedish ancestry after World War II. Donald Trump has publicly acknowledged his German roots, serving as grand marshal at the 1999 German-American Steuben Parade in New York City.
