Introduction
Princess Ning'an was a Ming dynasty princess and the third daughter of the Jiajing Emperor to survive childhood.
The princess was born in 1539 to the Jiajing Emperor's favored concubine, Consort Duan. She was given the personal name Luzheng. In 1542, following the Renyin palace rebellion, Consort Duan was condemned by Empress Fang to death by slow-slicing. It was subsequently determined that Consort Duan was not involved in the uprising. At the time of her mother's death, Luzheng was approximately three years old. Afterward, she was raised by Imperial Noble Consort Shen.
In 1555, Luzheng was granted the title Princess Ning'an. In the same year, she married Li He of Ningjin County, Hebei. Official historical records document that she had at least one child, a son named Li Cheng'en. She later received the title of Dazhang (大长) Princess Ning'an.
In popular culture, Princess Ning'an has been portrayed by actress Fan Bingbing in the 2003 television series "Famous Catcher in Kanto" (名捕镇关东).
References for her life and titles include the "Veritable Records of the Ming" (《明實錄:明世宗實錄》), compiled in the 1620s, and the "History of Ming" (《明史》), edited by Zhang Tingyu in 1739.
