Introduction
Sir Reginald Lister (1865β1912) was a British diplomat. He was the third son of Thomas Lister, 3rd Baron Ribblesdale. Lister's career in diplomacy included several postings and promotions within the British foreign service.
He served as Second Secretary at the British Embassy in Paris until September 1902. In that year, he was appointed Secretary of Legation in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1904, he transferred to the British embassy in Italy, where he was promoted to the rank of Counsellor. From 1905, Lister served as Counsellor at the British embassy in Paris under Sir Francis Bertie.
During King Edward VII's visit to Paris in 1906, Lister was honored with the awarding of the Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO). The following year, he was promoted to the position of minister. In 1908, Lister left France to assume the role of British Envoy and Minister at the embassy in Morocco. He held this position until his death in 1912.
