Introduction
Lin Huaguo, a native of Xiamen, Fujian Province, is the son of Lin Mengfei and the third of seven children in the family. His father was a Kuomintang officer who participated in the Northern Expedition and in the liberation of Xiamen. Lin Huaguo’s childhood and adolescence were shaped by his family’s emphasis on helping others and on honesty. During the Cultural Revolution, because of his father’s background, he and his peers were sent to the countryside to work, engaging in farming, electrical work, metalworking, and activities in the supply and marketing system; he also taught mathematics for two years at Yongding No. 5 Middle School. In the early 1950s, his father shifted to chemical research and founded Feida Photo Paper Factory. Afterward, Lin Huaguo returned to Xiamen to invest and founded Nuolin (Xiamen) Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., establishing a business philosophy of “credit first, sincere service” and developing projects such as Mingshi Yuyuan. The company faced setbacks, but it adhered to a people-centered, integrity-driven approach.
Philanthropy: Lin Huaguo has contributed to education and charity for more than two decades, with total donations amounting to nearly ten million yuan, funding educational and social welfare projects such as the Mengfei Library at Shuangshi High School.
About his son: The eldest son Lin Feng was born in Xiamen and later developed in Hong Kong into a singer, actor, and television star. Lin Feng studied at Xiamen University and earned the campus’s Top Ten Singers award, and after a year of architectural study in the United States, he returned to Hong Kong to pursue an entertainment career. Lin Huaguo has urged his son to “start from the bottom,” emphasizing hardship and self-reliance. Lin Feng currently resides in a luxury residence in Di Jing Garden on The Peak, Hong Kong; his father has given him a Mercedes-Benz sports car valued at about HK$500,000, and he plans to invest in Hong Kong real estate, aiming to purchase property worth over HK$10 million. Lin Huaguo often teaches his children through storytelling, stressing the maxim: “Before you learn how to do things, you must first learn how to be a person.”
