Introduction
She is a Japanese voice actress who began her career with Aoni Production, using the stage name Ishibashi Chie. After marrying and having a child, she paused her activities, later moved to Production Baobab, and changed her stage name to Sawaguchi Rie; a few months afterward she reverted to her current stage name Sawaguchi Chie. Throughout her career she has worked under several different stage names.
In animation, she has provided voices for many works. Notable roles include:
- the character Zejuan Xiaoji in the 1997 version of Arale (Dr. Slump)
- Nis in the TV series The Saga of Rhodes Island: The Hero Knight’s Legend
- Q Bi in Blooming Angel
- Danba Lin in Twin Princesses, Season 2
She has also voiced characters in Crayon Shin-chan, including roles such as female students and mothers. Other anime she worked on include:
- a student in Saint Light Girls’ Academy
- Tomoko Chikamatsu in Nankai Queen
- Pelo in Phantom Giant God
- a mother in Hana Yōkō Onna Shita La Verite
She also appeared in works such as The Twelve Kingdoms and a cameo in Detective Conan (episode 603), among others.
In video games, her notable roles include:
- Lilith Aileron in the Tales of Destiny series, as well as in the original PS2 version of Tales of Destiny and the PSP version of Fantasy Legend
- Satsuki Fujikawa in Love Story 2
- Alice Elliot in the Kingdom Hearts series
She has also appeared in other media projects. She released a single titled Hikari no Suashi on April 22, 1998 (before 2018).
Personal life:
Her younger sister is musician Ishibashi Yuko, and her brother is Ishibashi Tetsu, both active in the Japanese entertainment world; Tetsu Ishibashi is a member of the young comedy troupe Kaopoint. In 2004, she, along with Kenji Nojima, Ishibashi Yuko, and musician friend Suzuki Toshimune, formed the reading-and-music group BELOVED (now inactive). In 2007 she and Ishibashi Yuko, together with Nogami Asao, formed the group CHARMS. In addition to her voice work, she has contributed articles to the seiyu magazine hm3 and has served as a production staff member for some live performances.
