Ethel Zimmern (Chinese name: Shi Yanfang) was the eldest daughter of the prominent Hong Kong businessman Shi Bingguang.
She married into the influential Ho Tung family, becoming the wife of Ho Shiu Yiu (1886–1933), the third son of Ho Fook and the uncle of casino tycoon Stanley Ho.
Together, Ethel Zimmern and Ho Shiu Yiu had one son and two daughters. Their son, Ho Hung-chiu, became a renowned radiologist, establishing a respected career in the medical field.
As a key figure linking the Ho and Shi families, Ethel Zimmern reinforced the social and familial ties between two of Hong Kong’s most notable clans, with her descendants continuing to make contributions in society and professional circles.
