Introduction
Zhu Zhangu, the heir of Han Zhuang, was born in 1398. He was the eldest legitimate son of Zhu Gaoxu, the second Han King of the Ming Dynasty. In the second year of the Yongle reign (1404), he was granted the title of Han Heir, illustrating his status as the legitimate eldest son of the imperial family. However, Zhu Zhangu did not succeed his father’s position; he passed away in August, Gengshen, of the nineteenth year of the Yongle era (September 26, 1421), at the age of 23. He was posthumously titled Yizhuang. Due to his lack of offspring, his younger brother Zhu Ji was designated as Han Heir in the same year. Details about his family background are not extensively recorded. His deeds are primarily documented in the “History of Ming” and the “Veritable Records of Ming.”
