Introduction

Diao Lei, born in the 1980s, is a well-known drummer in Mainland China's rock music scene. There is limited detailed information about his early life, but it is known that he began exploring rock music during his adolescence. In pursuit of his musical career, he biked two and a half hours daily to practice drums extensively at factories far from the city to improve his skills.

In 2000, Diao Lei officially entered the entertainment industry by joining the band Candy Gun as their drummer, starting his musical career. Subsequently, in 2003, he joined the band Overload, also as a drummer. During the two years when Candy Gun was on hiatus, Diao Lei also played with the bands Skyscraper and Spring and Autumn, participating in recordings for several bands, including collaborations with singers Lao Lang and Pu Shu.

In 2005, at the invitation of Zheng Jun, Diao Lei served as the drummer for Zheng Jun's "Warm Shout" Beijing concert. In 2006, he performed with Overload at concerts such as "Poetry of Life" and "Magnificent Movement." In 2007, Diao Lei participated in the MIDI Music Festival and became a prominent live-performance drummer. In 2008, he was invited to join AK-47 and contributed to the recording of their second album, "Unable to Stop." The following year, he appeared at the Summer Navigator Music Festival and, thanks to his excellent performance, received the Best Annual Rock Instrumental Award at the MIDI Golden Awards and the First China Rock MIDI Awards.

Starting in 2010, Diao Lei joined the band Yao as their drummer. That same year, he also joined Face Band, with whom he performed for the first time. In 2012, he participated in Beijing TV's online Spring Festival Gala with Yao and released the album "Selection I." In 2013, Yao released the album "We Just Like This," featuring multiple tracks. Additionally, he participated in numerous music festivals and performances, including the Qingdao World City Music Festival and concerts, gradually establishing his position in China's rock scene.

In his personal life, Diao Lei married university classmate Wang Yan in 2012 but divorced in 2015. In November of the same year, he married Duan Ping, with whom he has a son. The couple divorced in 2017. Starting early 2019, Diao Lei began posting photos with He Jie on social media and publicly confirmed the news of his third child in February.

His notable musical works include "We Just Like This" (2013) and "Selection I" (2012), which have made a significant impact in the music industry. He has received numerous industry awards, demonstrating his professional caliber.
