Introduction
Margaret Howard, 2nd Baroness Strathcona and Mount Royal (née Smith), was born on 17 January 1854 and died on 18 August 1926. She was a British peer and medical doctor. She inherited the title of Baroness Strathcona and Mount Royal from her father, the first Baron, with the title having been created with a special remainder that permitted female succession.
In 1888, she married Robert Jared Bliss Howard, who was recognized with the honors OBE and FRCS. He was born in 1859 and died in 1921. Robert Jared Bliss Howard was the son of Robert Palmer Howard, who served as Dean of Medicine at McGill University and lived from 1823 to 1889.
Margaret Howard was succeeded in her title by her son, Donald Howard, who became the 3rd Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal. She is interred at Highgate Cemetery in London, specifically in the East Cemetery section.
