Introduction
Laimbu (Manchu: ᠯᠠᡳᠮᠪᡠ; Möllendorff: laimbu; Abkai: laimbu) was born on January 26, 1612, and died on June 23, 1646. He was a Manchu noble during the early Qing Dynasty.
Laimbu was a member of the Aisin Gioro clan, a prominent Manchu royal family. He was the thirteenth son of Nurhaci, the founder of the Qing Dynasty. His mother was Lady Sirin Gioro, who was a concubine of Nurhaci. Laimbbu was a younger half-brother of Hong Taiji, Nurhaci's successor.
In 1634, during Hong Taiji's reign, Laimbbu was appointed as niru-jianggin ( 牛錄章京). In 1639, he obtained a position within the Deliberative Council of Princes and Ministers. In 1642, Laimbbu accompanied his older half-brother Ajige in a military campaign against the Ming Dynasty. During this campaign, they defeated a Ming army at Ningyuan.
Following the campaign, Ajige returned to his residence without waiting for official recognition or rewards from Hong Taiji. This act was interpreted as a sign of disrespect toward the emperor. Laimbbu was also found guilty for failing to restrain Ajige's actions and was subsequently stripped of his position in the council.
In 1645, Laimbbu was granted the title of "General Who Receives Grace" (奉恩將軍). He died the following year in 1646. After his death, his son Laihu inherited his titles. In 1653, during the reign of the Shunzhi Emperor, Laimbbu was posthumously conferred the title "Duke Jiezhi Who Assists the Nation" (輔國介直公). The ducal title "Duke Who Assists the Nation" (輔國公) was also passed on to Laihu.
Laimbu's family included a primary consort from the Nara clan. His first son, Laihu (1625–1694), held the rank of Duke of the Second Rank (輔國公). Laimbu also had a concubine of the Fuca clan, as well as mistresses from the Khorchin Borjigin clan and the Yang clan.
There is no detailed information provided about Laimbbu’s broader ancestry beyond his immediate family connections.
