Myolie Wu

Hu Xing'er, born on December 15, 1979, is a well-known actress and singer from Hong Kong. Her family background is middle class; her father is a civil servant who received a tuition subsidy for studying abroad, which gave her the opportunity to spend some time in Belfast, Northern Ireland. During her time in Northern Ireland, she became fluent in English. In 1999, Hu Xing'er completed the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and was admitted to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to study biochemistry. During her first year of university, she accompanied a friend to participate in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant and won the first runner-up and the Most Photogenic Award. Despite some success in the entertainment industry, she decided to terminate her studies in 2003 and fully dedicate herself to her acting career.

On January 15, 2001, Hu Xing'er starred in her first television drama, "Beauty and the Beast," marking the beginning of her acting career. During her first two years at TVB, she mostly played roles as younger sisters or daughters. It was not until 2002, when she played the mentally challenged girl Ding Shanyin in the drama "Golden Years," that she received recognition and the TVB Most Progressing Actress Award. In 2003, she played the titular role of Zhong Qingling in "Legal Entanglements" and was the female lead, Su Yi, in the anniversary drama "On Cloud Nine." That same year, Hu Xing'er also appeared in "West Wing, East Wing." In 2004, she reunited with Ye Xuan and Wu Zhuoyi in "West Wing, East Wing," playing the role of a matchmaker.

In 2005, Hu Xing'er starred in several dramas, including "Same Frame, Same Frame," "Love in the Dark Forest," "My Savage Grandmother," and "Legal Consultant." She played the spoiled bride Tian Li in "My Savage Grandmother" and won the Best Actress award at the TVB Anniversary Awards. In 2006, she starred as Ho Mei-tin in "Fattening Happiness," becoming a strong contender for the TVB Best Actress award. In 2007, she participated in multiple series, including "The Legend of the Wind and Clouds." In 2008, she signed with a record label, released her first solo music album "Evolve," and received awards for her music career.

In 2009, Hu Xing'er expanded her career into Mainland China, and in 2010, she appeared in the dramas "Beauty at the Cross" and "Joyful Mother-in-law and Pretty Daughter-in-law," gradually establishing fame on the mainland. She subsequently played significant roles in numerous Mainland dramas, including "Fish Lifting the Flower," "Storm in the Court," "Founding of the Party," and "Gold Hunter." She has also won multiple acting awards, such as Best Actress and Favorite TV Female Character at the TVB Anniversary Awards.
