Joanna Ninian

Joanna Ninian, born around 1627 and deceased on February 8, 1717 or 1718, was an ancestor of Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the United States. She was the mother of John Merrill, who was born on February 16 or 17, 1662 or 1663, in Newbury and died on May 15, 1705, in Haverhill. John Merrill had a son named Abel Merrill, born circa 1690 in Newbury and who passed away on March 29, 1753, in Methuen. Abel Merrill’s daughter was Elizabeth Merrill, born on February 22, 1727 or 1728, in Methuen. Elizabeth Merrill was the mother of Benjamin Pierce, an American politician born in 1757 and died in 1839. Benjamin Pierce was the father of Franklin Pierce, who served as president of the United States from 1853 to 1857.
