Thirteenth Daughter Of Huang Taiji

The thirteenth daughter of Qing Tai Zong Huang Taiji, born in 1638 and died in 1657, her name is unknown. Her biological mother was Concubine Nara, and she shared the same mother with Gosa and Qing Tai Zong's tenth daughter; therefore, according to the customs of the Later Jin (Qing) dynasty, she is referred to as a "Gegge" (a rank of imperial consort). In February 1652, she married Laha of the Guwalgiya clan. Her marriage is recorded as a noble alliance within the court, but specific details about the wedding location and rituals are not documented in existing historical records. She passed away in April 1657 at the age of twenty and was not conferred any official title. Her siblings born of the same mother also did not receive high noble ranks in the formal sealings; reasons suggested include that the early Qing's system of granting titles was still not fully developed, and her mother’s marriage status was relatively modest. Her life is mainly documented through her marriage and palace affairs, reflecting the limitations of the early Qing dynasty’s noble title system and the differential treatment of children born to concubines. Existing historical sources lack comprehensive records of her name, detailed genealogy, and subsequent descendants, so her biography primarily revolves around her marriage and familial standing. This case also highlights the relationship between the status of women within the palace and the development stage of the imperial seal of appointment system during the early Qing period.
