Introduction
Princess Heke of the Second Rank (和碩和恪公主), born on 17 August 1758 and deceased on 14 December 1780, was a member of the Qing dynasty imperial family. She was the ninth daughter and twenty-second child of the Qianlong Emperor, and her mother was Empress Xiaoyichun, also known as Consort Ling prior to her posthumous elevation.
Born in the Forbidden City in Beijing, Princess Heke's early years were marked by her status within the imperial family. She was raised by her foster mother, Consort Shu of the Yehe-Nara clan, rather than her biological mother, who was posthumously honored as Empress Xiaoyichun.
In 1771, at the age of 14, Princess Heke married Jalantai of the Uya clan. The marriage resulted in one daughter, who later married Rinchen Dorji. The dowry provided to Princess Heke at her marriage was notably smaller than that of her sisters, including her foster sister. Despite her mother's posthumous promotion to Empress, Princess Heke did not receive the title of Princess of the First Rank, a departure from customary practice for daughters of an empress. Her lack of this title was unusual, as she was the only princess in the Qing dynasty who survived infancy, whose biological mother was an empress, yet did not attain the highest royal title during her lifetime.
Princess Heke died in Beijing at the age of 22 and was buried in the Chaoyang District of Beijing.
In contemporary popular culture, she was portrayed by actress Chen Yuan'er in the 2018 Chinese television series "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace."
