Ma Shiai, born on July 19, 1991, is a native of Taipei, Taiwan, China. She is the eldest daughter of well-known actor Ma Jingtao and his ex-wife Tang Yun. Her father, Ma Jingtao, was born on February 14, 1962, in Taichung City, Taiwan, and has Manchu ethnicity with ancestral roots in Liaoning Province. He is a renowned Taiwanese male actor. Details about her mother, Tang Yun, have not been publicly disclosed. Her stepmother, Wu Jiayi, was born on February 22, 1983, in Shanghai, and graduated from the Beijing Dance Academy. She is also an actress in mainland China.

Ma Shiai grew up in Taipei and showed good physical fitness and acting potential from a young age. She lived with her parents from the age of three, and after their divorce, she lived with her father. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, she demonstrated a strong interest in acting, starring in stage plays during her second year of high school, which were performed in Taiwan. Her family members include her father, Ma Jingtao; her mother, Tang Yun; her stepmother, Wu Jiayi; and two brothers: Ma Shitian, born on June 6, 2007, in Shanghai, who likes animation and cars, and her second brother, Ma Shixin, born on January 30, 2009, in Hong Kong, China.

Regarding controversies, in 2008, when Ma Jingtao’s daughter was admitted to the Central Academy of Drama, it sparked public speculation. Her father clarified that her achievements were the result of her personal efforts. Ma Jingtao once stated that Ma Shiai has greater natural talent for acting than himself, is autonomous by nature, and adapts well.
