Jiro Hata is a Japanese politician who serves as a member of the House of Councillors of Japan. He was born in Tokyo, Japan. Hata attended Wake Forest University in the United States.
His brother, Yuichiro Hata, was also a politician and a member of the House of Councillors. Yuichiro Hata passed away on December 27, 2020, due to complications related to COVID-19.
Following his brother's death, Jiro Hata announced his candidacy in a by-election held in April 2021. He competed against Yutaka Komatsu, a former member of the House of Representatives of Japan, and won the election.
He subsequently was re-elected to the House of Councillors in 2022.
