Introduction

Marquess Katsunosuke Inoue (井上 勝之助, Inoue Katsunosuke) was born on August 16, 1861, in Suō Province, Japan. He was the son of Mitsuto Inoue. After the death of his father in 1869, he was adopted by his uncle, Kaoru Inoue.

Inoue pursued a career in diplomacy and served as Minister Plenipotentiary to Belgium in 1898. Subsequently, from 1898 to 1906, he held the position of Minister Plenipotentiary in Berlin, Germany. He was appointed as Japan's ambassador to Germany from 1906 to 1908. Later, he served as the Japanese ambassador to Chile from 1910 to 1913 and in the United Kingdom from 1913 to 1916.

In addition to his diplomatic posts, Inoue was a director of the Manchurian Railway. He remained involved in Japan's international and economic affairs until his death on November 3, 1929.
