Li Ping, from Datong, Shanxi, is the wife of Ling Chengwei. She studied dance at the Yibei Branch of Shanxi Art School (also known as Yibei Art School). After graduation, she was assigned to the Shanxi Song and Dance Troupe as a dancer. In 1988, she was accepted into Shanxi TV Station from the Shanxi Yibei Song and Dance Troupe. In 1989, she was seconded to the Arts Department and hosted the first family music concert, which was broadcast live for seven consecutive days and received widespread praise. As a result, she was formally transferred to the Arts Department and hosted the weekly variety show "Colorful World." In 1992, during the Shanxi twelve cities' arts program broadcast, she was named the best program host. In 1993, she joined the Comment Department of China Central Television (CCTV), hosting the daily program "Oriental Time and Space." During the 1,000th episode of "Oriental Time and Space" in 1996, she was voted the most popular program host by viewers.
