Introduction
Zheng Weili, born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, grew up in a military environment because both of her parents were servicemen. She graduated in 1989 from the Drama Performance Department of Hubei Art Institute. Subsequently, through a special recruitment by Zhou Zhentian, director of the Navy Television and Arts Center, and the political commissar Zhang Yong, she joined the military as an actress. Her first television series was the 1989 production Good Man, Good Woman, in which she played Qing Nu. In 1992 she appeared in the film The Private Bodyguard. In 1994 she played Chen Shiguan, the wife of Xu Chaosheng, in the costume wuxia series The Book and Sword: Gratitude and Enmity. In 1995 she portrayed Deng Yingchao in the autobiographical drama Deng Yingchao and Her Mother. In 1996 she played Shui Shui in the film Wu Erge Please the God; to get closer to the character, she once lived in the remote countryside of Jintang County, Sichuan. For this role she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 16th Golden Rooster Awards. In 1999 she played Li Yunfang in the comedy Stealing Joy. In the early 2000s, she continued to appear in many works, such as Moon Over Kunlun, The Bauhinia Medal, Because I Love You, Armed Police, etc. In 2006 she played She Meilan in Jin Ge Li Yuan. In 2007 she starred in the film Two Women in Red Headscarves, which won awards at the Changchun Film Festival and other venues. In 2009 she played Zhao Renlan in the historical drama Iron Shoulders Bore Righteousness. In 2011 she played Yu Liang in The Xia Family’s Three Thousand Gold, a motherly role. Thereafter she held important roles in Dongfang, Qinggu Lane, Divorce Lawyer, Tongbai Hero, and other series. In 2018 she appeared as Zhuolin in the film Chu Shan.
