Introduction

Prince Rong, the fourth son of Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty. Born on the seventh day of the tenth month in the fourteenth year of Shunzhi's reign (October 7, 1657), his mother was Consort Dong'e. Due to her favored position among the imperial harem, Emperor Shunzhi regarded him as "His Majesty's First Son" and included him as a candidate for the throne. His life was very brief; he lived for only three months.

His birth date corresponds to October 7, 1657, in the Gregorian calendar. He died on the 24th day of the first month of the fifteenth year of Shunzhi's reign (January 24, 1658). Emperor Shunzhi expressed his sorrow over his early death and posthumously granted him the title of Prince Rong.

His birth mother, Consort Dong'e, died of illness on August 19, 1659, in the seventeenth year of Shunzhi's reign. Three days later, she was posthumously honored as "Xiaoxian Zhuanghe Zhihui Xuanren Wenhui Duanjing Empress," abbreviated as "Xiaoxian Empress." According to records, Fulin (the birth name of the Shunzhi Emperor) expressed regret over this posthumous elevation, saying "still with the words 'Heavenly Sage' as an apology."
