Introduction
Mianqin (Chinese: 綿懃; 1768 – 1820) was an imperial prince of the Qing dynasty and a grandson of the Qianlong Emperor. He was born in 1768 to Yongxing, a prominent Qing official and prince, and his primary consort, Lady Fuca, who was a niece of Empress Xiaoxianchun. Lady Fuca was the daughter of Empress Xiaoxianchun’s youngest brother, Fuheng.
Mianqin initially held the title of Lesser Bulwark Duke. In 1796, his second son, Yilun, was adopted into the Prince Lü peerage due to the childlessness of the direct heir of Prince Cheng, Mianhui, the son of Yongcheng. In 1802, Mianqin was promoted to the rank of Beile, a lower-tier princely title. Subsequently, he became the only heir apparent of the Prince Cheng peerage after his brothers Miansi and Mianyi were adopted by other imperial princes who were childless, such as Yongzhang and Yongji.
Mianqin’s mother passed away in November 1813. He was posthumously granted the title of Prince Cheng of the Second Rank in 1820, the year of his death.
Regarding his family, Mianqin’s primary consort belonged to the Wumi clan. With her, he fathered several children, including his first son, Yishou, who held the title of Prince Cheng of the Second Rank, and his seventh son, among others. He also had secondary consorts from the Zhaojia and Wanyan clans and a mistress from the Li clan. His children included Yiyu, who attained the rank of First Class Bulwark General; Yixu, who lived from 1820 to 1854; Yichuo, who was titled Grace General and lived from 1818 to 1863; Yibian, who lived briefly from 1820 to 1821; and Yilun, who was adopted into the Prince Lü peerage and lived from 1790 to 1836. Another son, Yifan, was a Fourth Rank Official and died in 1820.
Mianqin died in 1820 and was posthumously honored with the title of Prince Cheng of the Second Rank.
