Zhao Wujun is the youngest son of Zhao Ziyang, former Premier of the State Council and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.

Growing up in Zhao Ziyang’s household, Zhao Wujun was deeply influenced by his father’s integrity and sense of responsibility. As the youngest child, he was cherished within the family and, like his siblings, was raised under his father’s teachings that emphasized kindness, honesty, and upright conduct.

On January 17, 2005, during Zhao Ziyang’s final hours, his five children each came forward to speak to him one last time. Zhao Wujun said to his father: “Dad, you not only gave us life but also taught us how to be decent people. Don’t worry, we already know what it means to be kind and upright. What we do will never tarnish your name.” At that moment, Zhao Ziyang’s eyes filled with tears, which flowed continuously—an emotional testament to the bond between father and son.

Following Zhao Ziyang’s passing, Zhao Wujun joined his siblings in expressing the family’s concerns to the Party leadership. They presented four requests, including correcting the Party’s historical verdict on Zhao Ziyang, clarifying the reasons for his 16-year-long house arrest, and ensuring fairness in acknowledging his life and contributions. These actions reflected Zhao Wujun’s sense of duty and deep respect for his father.

Although little public information exists regarding Zhao Wujun’s professional or social activities, his words at his father’s deathbed and his role in defending his father’s legacy demonstrate his character—marked by kindness, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.
