Introduction

Shō Wada (born December 1, 1975, in Shibuya, Tokyo) began his professional career in 1997 as a core member of the rock band TRICERATOPS. In the band he was chiefly responsible for songwriting and composition, and his musical style blends rock and pop elements. As a member of TRICERATOPS, Wada has written songs for several well-known artists, including SMAP and Fumiya Fujii.

In 1999, Wada’s song "GOING TO THE MOON" was chosen for a Pocari Sweat commercial, a move that significantly raised TRICERATOPS’s profile. Formed in 1997, the band remained active for 27 years, releasing numerous notable songs and functioning as a three-person creative core.

Wada comes from an artistic family: his father is the noted illustrator Makoto Wada, and his mother is the cooking expert Remi Hirano. This background provided the foundation for his artistic sensibilities.

On a personal note, Wada began a relationship with actress Juri Ueno in the autumn of 2015 after meeting through music. Their relationship became public in April 2016, and they completed their marriage registration on May 26, 2016.

On August 19, 2024, TRICERATOPS announced that it would suspend all band activities, citing a need to “explore new directions.” This decision marked the end of the band’s 27-year period of activity.

Wada’s public image has been established by his central role in the band and his contributions as a composer; although the band has suspended activities, his influence in music remains widely recognized.
