Wang Zhihua

Wang Zhihua is the son-in-law of former Chinese Premier and General Secretary of the Communist Party, Zhao Ziyang. He is married to Zhao’s daughter, Wang Yannan (born Zhao Liang), and the couple have maintained a long and devoted relationship. Wang Zhihua graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University, where he was known as the main attacker on the university’s volleyball team and was regarded as calm, principled, and sincere.

During the many years of Zhao Ziyang’s house arrest, Wang Zhihua and his wife remained by Zhao’s and his wife’s side, caring for them with unwavering loyalty and compassion. Their steadfast companionship earned them deep respect and admiration from those who knew the family.

Despite his connection to a prominent political family, Wang Zhihua has always lived a modest and private life, never seeking power or influence. Those familiar with the family have often described him as a man of integrity and genuine affection—“a loyal and righteous son-in-law, rare in this world.”
