Introduction

Liu Bocheng, born in 1897 with an unclear ancestral origin, was a renowned Chinese military commander and revolutionary. He began his military and political career in the early 20th century and played a significant role in various military campaigns led by the Chinese Communist Party.

In 1930, on the eve of the Anti-Japanese War, Liu Bocheng returned to the Central Military Commission of China, serving as Chief of Staff. At the same time, he engaged in underground work in Shanghai under the alias “Lin ZhiMu”. During this period, he married a woman named Wu Jingchun while working as a professor. At that time, Wu Jingchun was unaware of her husband's political affiliations, family background, or political leanings. Liu Bocheng's secret activities involved complex military and political networks, and his strategic skills were highly proficient.

In 1932, Liu Bocheng moved to the Soviet Area, serving as the principal of the Red Army School, and shortly thereafter was promoted to Chief of Staff of the Red Army. During this time, he lost contact with his family. Wu Jingchun recalled the hardships of Liu Bocheng's work in Shanghai, describing how he spent his days conducting liaison activities and teaching military courses, while at night covering his lights with black cloth and carefully translating Russian documents, working diligently until dawn. His meticulous work ethic demonstrated that he was not only a field commander but also possessed outstanding writing skills and military knowledge.

Liu Bocheng had in-depth research in both military theory and practice. He served as the head of the Chinese Communist Party’s translation section, becoming one of the few military translation experts in China at the time. Through his efforts, many Soviet military theories and regulations were introduced into mainland China, exerting a profound influence on the development of the People's Liberation Army.

His practices in military operations, political activities, and theoretical contributions reflect the image of a well-rounded military leader and have left a significant mark in Chinese military history.
