Introduction

Peng Gang (born August 1959) was a Chinese military and political figure. She joined the People's Liberation Army of China in August 1959 and subsequently studied in the Control Department of the Military Telecommunications Engineering Institute. After graduating in 1965, Peng Gang worked at Beijing Auto Repair Company as a staff member and technician school instructor, later serving as a technician at Beijing Auto Manufacturing Factory.

In August 1979, Peng Gang joined the Communist Party of China. Subsequently, she worked as an engineer at the Meteorological Research Institute of the General Staff Department of the People's Liberation Army. From 1981, she served in the General Logistics Department of the PLA, holding positions such as engineer and director of the Command Management Automation Research Office.

Starting in 1985, Peng Gang was appointed Deputy Minister of the Political Department of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, and was later promoted to Minister. In 1988, she became the dedicated deputy secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the General Logistics Department with a military rank.

From 1990, Peng Gang served as Deputy Minister of the Discipline Inspection Department of the PLA General Political Department, and later became Deputy Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Central Military Commission. She was awarded the rank of Major General in June 1991.

In September 1998, Peng Gang was elected as Vice Chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation. She was elected as a member of the Central Discipline Inspection Commission at the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party in November 1987, and re-elected to the same body and its Standing Committee at the 14th National Congress in October 1992 and the First Plenary Session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. She was re-elected as a Standing Committee member again in 1997.

Peng Gang passed away in Beijing on June 24, 2014, due to illness, at approximately 55 years old. Her body was laid in state at the Beijing 301 Hospital on June 30, with attendees including descendants of founding leaders of the CPC and senior military officials.

In terms of family, Peng Gang’s father was a martyr. She was raised by her the Uncle Peng Dehuai, with whom she lived for 15 years, forming a close relationship.

Regarding personal evaluations, Peng Gang was reputed in the military for being “tough and unyielding, not showing mercy, and people would avoid her when they saw her,” as well as for “being principled, diligent, and practical—someone worth befriending.” She was nicknamed "The Female Judge of the Military," and demonstrated exceptional seriousness and tenacity in discipline inspection work at the General Logistics Department. Many people who knew her described her as “widely known and respected.”
