Deacon John Chapin, Of Mendon

Deacon John Chapin of Mendon, born on October 7, 1730, and deceased on July 17, 1815, in Heath, is the father of Bethiah Chapin, born on March 12, 1755, in Mendon and died on October 6, 1829, in Townshend. Bethiah Chapin is the mother of Sylvia Howard, born on February 17, 1792, in Townshend and died in 1866. Sylvia Howard is the mother of Alphonso Taft, an American diplomat who lived from 1810 to 1891. Alphonso Taft is the father of William Howard Taft, who served as President of the United States from 1909 to 1913.
