His political career included service on the Kent County, Michigan Board of Commissioners from 1958 to 1964. He was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 91st District as a Republican, serving from 1964 until 1972. After his legislative tenure, he was employed by the Michigan State Legislature, specifically in legislative audit roles, from 1972 to 1980.
