Grietje Van Ness

Grietje van Ness was born in 1624 and died in 1689. She is the ancestor of Jannetje Oothout, who is her granddaughter, and Jannetje Laurense Van Schaick, her great-granddaughter. Jannetje Laurense Van Schaick is the mother of Maria Hoes, who is the mother of Martin Van Buren, the president of the United States from 1837 to 1841. Grietje van Ness is the daughter of Marijen Hendricks van den Burchgraeff, and her paternal lineage includes Hendrickje Cornelisse van Ness, her daughter Jannetje Oothout, and subsequently Jannetje Laurense Van Schaick and Maria Hoes.
